Hard to argue against this one

“Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from a religious conviction” – Blaise Pascal

Does God exist?

There is no such thing as a God Particle, just as there is no such thing as Global Warming. There is, however, a Higgs boson, just as there is Global Climate Change. In efforts to “dumb down” the explanations of complex ideas, the scientific community often alienates the very folks they’re trying to reach; to the detriment of all.

The discovery of the Higgs boson explains why some elementary particles have mass. Got it? Scientists have finally proven that an unseen, non-zero value field permeates all of space; and that other elementary particles obtain mass when they interact with it. While this is a fantastic discovery, it’s really got nothing to do with proving the existence of God.

I’ll delve into Global Climate Change another day. I promise.

The royal “we”

If there is only one God, why does He sometimes refer to Himself in the plural form?

Jewish scholars point to the Majestic plural or the royal “we” in many verses of the Hebrew Bible or Masoretic Text. “Obviously, the plural form is used in the same way as in the divine appellation ‘Elohim’, to indicate the all-inclusiveness of God’s attributes of authority and power, the plurality of majesty. It is customary for one in authority to speak of himself as if he were a plurality. Hence, Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your counsel what we shall do” (2 Samuel 16:20). The context shows that he was seeking advice for himself yet he refers to himself as ‘we’ (see also Ezra 4:16-19)

The same applies to the Q’uran as well.
